    SEND at Priory School

At Priory School, we believe that every pupil is valued, has potential, and deserves the opportunity to thrive. We are proud to be a highly inclusive, three-form entry Primary and Nursery school with a strong commitment to meeting the needs of all learners, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

    Our Commitment

    We are committed to:
    - Providing high-quality, inclusive teaching tailored to individual needs.
    - Offering targeted and specialist support where appropriate.
    - Working in partnership with pupils, families, and professionals.
    - Ensuring that every pupil with SEND has the tools to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

Our vision is rooted in curiosity, hope, opportunity, and trust, and our approach to SEND is aspirational, inclusive, and supportive.

    SEND Provision at Priory School

We offer three levels of provision:

    - Mainstream Provision – Inclusive teaching with adaptations, interventions, and access to specialist strategies.
    - Woodlands Resource Base – A 30-place provision offering structured support for pupils with moderate learning needs who benefit from a smaller setting and some access to mainstream lessons.
    - Orchard SEND Unit – A 50-place specialist unit for pupils with complex needs, primarily linked to autism, requiring an adapted curriculum and low-arousal environment.

Admissions to Woodlands and Orchard are managed by Slough Borough Council via the EHCP consultation process.

    Working in Partnership

Pupils and parents are active partners in shaping support. We involve families at every stage—from early identification to annual reviews—and provide:
    - Individual Provision Maps (IPMs)
    - Regular review meetings
    - Support with referrals and assessments
    - Opportunities for feedback and engagement through forums and surveys

We use plain language and inclusive communication strategies such as visual aids and Makaton to ensure understanding for all.

    Access and Inclusion

We are continually improving accessibility across our site and curriculum. This includes:
    - Sensory spaces and circuits
    - Accessible signage and visual supports
    - Assistive technologies and adapted materials
    - Differentiated curriculum planning
    - Emotional regulation support and targeted interventions

Our Accessibility Plan outlines our commitment to making the school more inclusive.

    Staff Expertise

All staff receive regular training in:
    - Adaptive teaching
    - Autism and ADHD
    - Emotional regulation and mental health
    - Communication needs
    - Implementing EHCP outcomes

Our SENCO works closely with staff and external professionals to ensure personalised and effective support for each pupil.

    Transitions and Next Steps

We place a strong emphasis on planning for key transitions, including:
    - Starting school
    - Moving between year groups
    - Secondary school transfer

We work closely with families and receiving schools to ensure each transition is smooth and well-supported.
