Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

At Priory School, Opportunity for All means ensuring every child and adult feels they belong, are respected and can thrive. We celebrate our diverse community, remove barriers to participation and challenge discrimination, including racism.

Through our curriculum, relationships and school life, we help pupils value difference, treat others with kindness and challenge unfairness. We adapt teaching and support, make reasonable adjustments and work with families to make learning, trips, clubs and events accessible.

Our equality duties

We work to eliminate discrimination, advance equality of opportunity and promote positive relationships between people from different backgrounds. Equality informs our policies, decisions and everyday practice.

Annual equality update

Review of 2025–26, published September 2026
Next annual update: September 2027

Our curriculum, community events and pupil leadership reflect Priory’s diversity. Existing surveys and feedback indicate that pupils feel safe and supported, and parents have confidence in our behaviour approach.

Attendance remains a priority, particularly for pupils with SEND and those eligible for pupil premium. We respond to individual needs and review barriers with families. Our monitoring has not identified a consistent pattern of behaviour concerns linked to ethnicity.

We take racism, prejudice and discrimination seriously. Our response includes appropriate consequences, support for those affected and learning that helps pupils understand and challenge prejudice.

Our priorities for 2026–27

  • Listen and act: Use existing pupil and parent feedback opportunities to understand experiences of belonging, representation and participation, make practical improvements where needed and check whether they help.
  • Strengthen anti-discrimination practice: Provide focused staff development on recognising and challenging discrimination, including racism, supporting pupils affected and responding consistently to concerns.

Leaders will review progress termly alongside existing monitoring of behaviour, inclusion and participation, and share updates with governors.

British Values

We promote democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs through our curriculum, assemblies, pupil leadership and everyday relationships.
